Happy Monday!

I just love Mondays when the hustle and bustle of the weekend are over and I can sit at my computer, do laundry and hang out with Clark. I guess Mondays are a bear for everyone else, but I just LOVE them!

Another reminder that today is the last day of the ScrapMatters Design Star Challenges. Head on over to the forum and check out the awesome alphas you can win just for creating a LO. This is also the last day of the Design Star Contest...not sure when we'll find out the results, but wish me luck. There are so many talented designers out there that I am just happy that I have made it this far.

And here is a LO that I created with it...I so wanted to use the shoes, but couldn't figure it out. I'm sure I'll be making many more LOs with this kit anyway! I thought the colors were perfect for our little Iggy-Wanna.

And here are the 2 LOs that I did for Speed Scraps yesterday!

This first one is using a free template by Linz from the ScrapMatters Tuesday Template challenge, The Soldier's Wife by GingerScraps, a flower (recolored) from Like Totally Awesome, and a string (recolored) from Britt-ish Designs

This little LO was created for Haynay's SS (and Krista's stacked challenge). I used the cute boy kit Benjamin by Jeni Hopewell.

Fun Challenges!

The DS Contestants have really done a fantastic job with creating fun challenges and fun alphas! Check them out at www.scrapmatters.com

Here are 2 layouts that I created today. In these challenges, there is double dipping allowed too, so I was able to complete 4 challenges with only 2 layouts - SCORE!

This first LO is of some pictures and newspaper clippings that I have held on to for a very long time (almost 8 years, I guess!). Christine's photo challenge and GingerScraps new kit, The Soldier motivated me to get this scrapped. Then I stumbled upon Krista's stacked challenge and thought that would be a perfect look for all my clippings. I am really happy with how it turned out. I usually like to include some journaling, but it didn't seem to fit. I may create a second page with my thoughts, feelings, reflections from that day. I guess I should go dig out that journal.

This second LO is for Ro's template challenge (free template!) and Brianne's ABC Challenge - which is really a challenge! But I really like the way this one turned out as well.

ScrapMatters Girls

This is such a great group to be a part of! Just wanted to put my plug in...I've been a member since the group started, and it is really fantastic to be out there leaving love and helping ScrapMatters be the wonderful place that it is! APPLY!

Eco-Trip (Roadmap to Scrap) Challenge

As part of our Design Star Contest, we were asked to host a challenge and provide an alpha as a participation prize. One of my favorite challenges at ScrapMatters is the Roadmap to Scrap. But this isn't any old regular RTS, there's a little twist!

April 22nd is a favorite holiday of mine…Earth Day! So in honor of our planet, I thought I would use eco-friendly principles to guide our eco-trip. Your LO does not have to be Earth Day themed, but you’ll be applying some green principles as you create.

Instructions

1. Choose 2 or more photos or you can duplicate a single photo
2. Arrange the photos so that they are not touching each other. (do you separate your recyclables?)
3. Use at least 3 papers (stands for the three pillars of green living: reduce, reuse, recycle)
4. Add a string and embellish it – if it is already embellished, good for you! (embellish your world with flowers and beautiful things, not litter)
5. Use a combo font/alpha for your title (Together we can make a difference)
6. Including something green in your LO or something from nature
7. Reuse something in a new way – recoloring, blending, etc.
8. Add something recyclable: metal, cardboard, newsprint, plastic (all other paper types are excluded)

In order to reach your destination, you MUST have all 8 things in your layout. Be creative and if you use something that meets more than one requirement, lucky you!

Here’s my LO that I created using these instructions (and my Happy Earth Day to You kit)!

You will have ONE WEEK (Deadline: midnight, April 20th) to scrap your layout. Post it to the ScrapMatters Gallery AND in the forum here to get your participation prize.

You will each receive this super cute Earth Day Alpha for completing this challenge (alpha coordinates with my Round 2 and 3 DS entries Happy Earth Day to You)
